Description
The Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood, a non-profit corporation, was formed in 1972 to help protest and fight against the building of a North South freeway that was planned to go though the neighborhood. Today, the SPHO is dedicated to the preservation and improvement of Oakwood and the surrounding areas. The society conductas an annual Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour. The collection contains administrative files, newsletters, clippings, scrapbooks, and other materials maintained by the Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood from 1972 to 2019.
