She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize by Hunger Mountain and won an Editor's Choice Award from Bamboo Ridge. She is a proud graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Vermont College of Fine Arts; has been on staff with Bamboo Ridge Press, Hawaii Women's Journal, and American Anthropologist; and is a reader for Black Lawrence Press. She lives with her husband and two sons in Los Angeles.
