Recounts the deeds of the individual members of the Fellowship of the Ring after being divided by an attack of orc-soldiers, following Frodo and Samwise on their continuing quest to destroy the Ring of Power in the Mountain of Fire.
Following Bilbo's 111th birthday, Frodo Baggins and his companion Sam Gamgee, set off along the same East Road down which Bilbo the Hobbit had accompanied Thorin Oakenshield and his dwarves all those years before.
Bilbo Baggins, a respectable, well-to-do hobbit, lives comfortably in his hobbit-hole until the day the wandering wizard Gandalf chooses him to take part in an adventure from which he may never return.
